AMAARA – by Dept. of English

AMAARA: The department of English  have been associating with the Learning Inspired Programme of AMAARA Foundation, a registered Non-Gazette Organisation since 2011, to provide life skills training to economically backward students of government schools. Every year around 15 student volunteers work on a regular basis on all Saturdays throughout the year. Two of our students Ms. Priya Varughese and Ms. Varsha V Varma, co-created the curriculum for the organization, which they ensured was tailor made to suit the needs of the children. The volunteer students visit their respective schools on  Saturdays and take classes as per the prescribed curriculum. This initiative boosts the confidence of the students and renders them an opportunity to give  back to the society the gifts they have received, in a meaningful manner. The programme aims at increasing the Literacy Rate and communicative skills in Government school children and to initiate hands-on academic training to the students of the department.
