Chrysalis, the Intercollegiate Fest for a Cause conducted by the PG Department of English, Bharata Mata College, Thrikkakara has been fluttering its wings for the past three years. Each year is revitalized through yearlong acts of goodness by the vibrant youth of the college. Chrysalis 19′ endorses the theme Ashes to Diamonds by taking up a plastic bottle challenge in association with #I ChallengePlasticBottle movement initiated by Fr Davis Chirammel Foundation and supported by the Rotary Club of Cochin North. This cause has been promoted with an aim of beating the menace of plastic pollution and sensitizing the youth towards the immediacy of actions to be taken to recycle plastic bottles sensibly. On 6 December 2018, Rev Fr Davis Chirammel visited the college and appreciated the department for meticulously executing the herculean task of handpicking about 25000 plastic bottles within the short span of one month. The 130 members of the department collectively took it up as a personal challenge in attaining the target of 500 kilograms of plastic bottles. The proceeds of this challenge is intended to provide a means of livelihood for the families affected by the recent flood. He reminded the students that the cause behind the campaign should be continued with the same vigour and passion. Moreover, he urged the community to trace roads that can lead to reinvent the lost purity of Mother Nature and the diminishing values of humanity in our lives.
