Inauguration of the Golden Jubilee Year of the Department of English
Bharata Mata College, Thrikkakara
The Department of English, Bharata Mata College established on 28th July 1970, commenced the Golden Jubilee year celebrations in a novel way by handing over books collected by the English Association along with a rack to the Social Health Centre at Edappally. This initiative which aimed at healing through reading was inaugurated jointly by Manager Rev. Fr. Jacob G. Palackapilly and Principal Dr. Shiny Palatty. The department has a yearlong activity in its store, which endorses the theme ‘Reliving Legacy’ to celebrate the Golden Jubilee year, says Miss Lissy Kachappilly, Head of the Department. The department with its rich legacy of illustrious professors and eminent alumni tries to hand over the torch of past wisdom to the future generation. For the past six years, the English Association had been donating books and racks to Primary Health Centres in and around Ernakulam with an intention to open the magical world of books to parents and children visiting the hospitals.
