LABYRINTH - An Interactive Theatre Installation by the students of Department of English | in association with the Kochi-Muziris Biennale

As the literary world commemorates the 100th anniversary of TS Eliot's "The Waste Land," the text which marks the onset of literary modernism, we cordially invite you to take part in an art installation of the poem performed in the form of an interactive theatre on 01 April 2023 in association with the Kochi-Muziris Biennale. The performance will be held at the Dhobi Khana, Fort Kochi and the ethnography of the people at the Dhobi Khana will be blended into the installation. This art installation takes the form of interactive theatre whereby the audience, or more precisely, the participants, can interact with the characters from "The Waste Land," making them an essential part of the meaning-making process. Staying true to the imagist school of thought of Ezra Pound that T.S. Eliot adapted into his work, the installation will be through a series of seemingly disconnected narratives, which will ultimately become one coherent whole. This installation embeds the narrative of Eliot's work into a capitalist Post-Covid space by drawing parallels between the global shocks and  fragmentations that people had 100 years ago in the aftermath of WWI and the global shock and fragmentations that people go through today.
