In connection with the World Refugee Day observed on June 20th every year The English Association of the Post Graduate Department of English, Bharata Mata College, Thrikkakara, has organized an awareness programme aimed at contemplating the dilemmas faced by the refugees worldwide. The programme commenced at 9:30 am in front of the college with a candle light tribute to the refugees by the students and teachers of the department initiated by the Principal Dr. Shiny Palatty in the presence of Ms. Lissy Kachappilly, Head of the Department of English and all the teachers and students. Lt. Nithin Thomas, Head of the Department of Economics addressed the gathering on the theme of the year ‘Step up with the Refugees’. The awareness session by Dr. Mini M Abraham, faculty of English enlightened the students with an elaboration on the current political conditions of refugees all around the world and the need for inclusiveness. The session was followed by poetry recitations and PowerPoint presentation of the students of III BA English dealing with the poignant state of homelessness and instability of the refugees worldwide.
