From abstraction to reality where equations shape innovations and theory shapes reality
Established in 1965 simultaneously with the college's founding, the Post Graduate and Research Department of Mathematics has undergone significant development over the years. Initially supporting a Pre-degree course, it has expanded its offerings to include a degree course in Mathematics in 1978, followed by the introduction of the M.Sc. Mathematics programme in 1995. A pivotal moment came in 2006 when the department obtained recognition as a research center, highlighting its dedication to advancing mathematical knowledge. The department boasts of a roster of esteemed former faculty members including Prof. P.D. Ouseph, Dr. K.T. Jose, Dr. B.V. Baby, Dr. M.K. Augustine, Dr. Sr. Sophiamma Isaac, Dr. Sr. Tessy Kurian, Prof. James George K., Prof K.O. Peter, Dr. Lissy Jacob, Dr. M.V. Rosa, Dr. Thomas Joseph, Dr. Sr. Princy K L, Prof.(Dr.) K.V. Thomas, Dr. Pearly P John and Prof.(Dr.) Paul Isaac., who have contributed significantly to its growth and reputation. Presently, the department is staffed with 5 permanent and 3 guest faculty members, with 5 faculty holding Ph.D. qualifications, reflecting the department's commitment to academic excellence and research.
