The National Cadet Corps (NCC), functioning under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, was established on 16 July 1948. It plays an important role in shaping young people into disciplined, confident and responsible citizens. Through its training and activities, NCC encourages leadership, patriotism, physical fitness, teamwork and a spirit of service. Its motto, “Unity and Discipline – एकता और अनुशासन,” captures the values that guide every cadet.
The NCC Senior Division at Bharata Mata College (Autonomous), Thrikkakara, operates under 21 Kerala Battalion NCC, Ernakulam. Our unit gives students opportunities to learn, grow and take on new challenges through regular parades, training sessions, camps and community-service activities. Our cadets take part in national-day celebrations, environmental initiatives, social-awareness programmes and various ceremonial events. They also get opportunities to attend specialised camps and participate in selected state- and national-level activities. These experiences help them build confidence, strengthen teamwork and develop a deeper sense of responsibility towards society.
Being part of NCC is an opportunity to grow both personally and socially. Cadets develop discipline, leadership, communication skills and physical fitness while learning the value of cooperation and service. They can participate in training and adventure camps, contribute to community initiatives such as cleanliness drives and voluntary blood donation, and work towards the NCC ‘B’ and ‘C’ Certificates by fulfilling the prescribed requirements. These certificates may also offer additional educational or career benefits, depending on the applicable rules and eligibility criteria.
At Bharata Mata College, we strive to nurture young people who are disciplined, confident, compassionate and ready to take on responsibility. Through NCC, we hope to inspire our cadets to become capable leaders, responsible citizens and individuals committed to serving the nation.
